Charleville-Mézières, in centuries, reunited various municipalities to become the city it is now.
The river Meuse is essential to the city : it was used as a barrier against ennemies, and it has then become a communication channel, for trade and exchanges.
An antique windmill of the 17th became the musée Rimbaud. The place is completely devoted to the poet, whom spent his entire youth in Charleville-Mézières. You will find in the museum many photographs and manuscripts tracing his life and work.
